Spiderbeam Aerial-51 Model 807-HD Asymmetrical Dipole Antenna – Heavy-Duty, Multi-Band HF Performance
The Aerial-51 Model 807-HD is a full-length, heavy-duty wire antenna built for serious HF amateur radio operators who need reliable performance across the 80m–6m bands. Designed in response to high demand for an 80m-capable version of the popular 404-UL, the 807-HD brings durability, high power handling, and wideband capability to permanent or semi-permanent installations.
This asymmetrical dipole covers 7 primary HF bands plus 6m, and optionally 30m with reduced performance and a tuner. It delivers strong signal output, low SWR near resonance, and the rugged construction needed for long-term outdoor use—even in challenging environments.
Key Features:
-
Covers 80m / 40m / 30m / 20m / 17m / 15m / 12m / 10m / 6m
-
Handles up to 600W SSB/CW (except 30m: 150W with tuner)
-
SWR (typical): From <1.5 to <2.7 depending on band
-
Antenna Length: approx. 40.8m (134 ft)
-
Weight: approx. 800g (1.5 lb)
-
Optimized for 12m height or higher (Inverted-V or Flat-Top)
-
Constructed with CQ-532 copper-clad steel wire (breaking strength 50 kg)
-
Teflon-insulated SO-239 coax jack with gold-plated contacts
-
Hybrid Balun + RMU (Region 1 version) – Balun is epoxy-potted for weatherproofing
-
Built to suppress common mode current – avoids issues common with other OCF dipoles
Ideal For:
-
Base stations and semi-permanent outdoor setups
-
DXers, contesters, and HF enthusiasts wanting full-size performance
-
Operators in HOA-restricted or rural locations
-
New Zealand hams needing efficient, multi-band HF capability
Installation Tips:
Mount the feedpoint at 12m (or higher) using a fiberglass pole, aluminium mast, or tree. The antenna can be installed as either an Inverted-V or a Flat-Top Dipole. Use any 50-ohm coaxial cable (keep it lightweight if mounting on poles). The included Region 1 RMU is tuned around 3.670 MHz for optimal performance on 80m in IARU Region 1.
Height = Might! For horizontal HF antennas, height above ground directly impacts performance—especially on low bands like 80m.
