About this Antenna Tuner Unit
The application for which this tuner is sold is POTA/SOTA and Field Days. It is meant for intermittent use and is ideal for tuning EFHW, semi resonant random wires and dipoles that are resonant a few hundred Khz off the desired frequency.
This ATU can generally tune an SWR of 3:1 or better and requires 10 watts to 20 watts to tune.
The maximum power used during tuning should not exceed 20 watts during tuning. (it can be set to 100 watts after tuning, and work at this power, otherwise the components and board can be burnt – this does not fall under the warranty)
The tuner will tune from 1.8 Mhz to 54 Mhz
Each unit is personally tested to tune an SWR of 3:1 or better on all bands from 80m to 6m. Note: Tuning does not imply an SWR of 1:1, but rather an SWR better than it was before tuning. Keep in mind that the application is tuning an EFHW or similar for a POTA activation or for a base station antenna. The ATU 100 will tune semi resonant antennas or antennas that are harmonics of the original wave length. For antennas that are not resonant we recommend either a manual tuner or one of the LDG antenna tuners ($550 +) from Andrews Communication in Sydney.Antenna Tuner Unit ATU100 Specifications:
